Lately, the Kori Off The Chains boots by Alexander Wang have been spinning around in my mind. I can't let go of my obsession for them, and the thought of how perfect they would be in my autumn/winter wardrobe makes me slightly crazy. My exam period is quickly emerging, and I am sure it is for some of you too (sorry to remind you!). I am a firm believer in rewards during this hectic and stressful period, so maybe I should be good to myself this year and treat myself to these as motivation?

Lots of Style, Less of Icons in The ELLEments of Personal Style

As someone who is obsessed with style I am often asked how it is defined or who has "it". I don't know about you, but to me it's like the famous saying about porn "you know it when you see it".

So I was utterly intrigued when I heard that ELLE Magazine Editors Joe Zee & Maggie Bullock were putting out a style book. While they are certainly more than qualified to discuss style I dreaded another book with chapter headings like "10 items every woman must own" listing staples like the little black dress (we know, thanks) and the timeless trench coat (yep –got that memo too!) Because while that's all well and good that's hardly where style lives! (read to the end of this post to see how you can score a copy of the book!)

Fortunately ELLEments of Style is not one of those rule books. Instead, Joe and Maggie created a gorgeous book that features 25 well known women in entertainment or fashion and let's us see not only into their closets but into their homes and what inspires them. The photography is beautiful and I especially enjoyed seeing things like Erin Wasson's handbags on the wall or the shoe collection of Dita von Teese.

I do have a couple of issues with the book and the first one is the subtitle: 25 Modern Fashion Icons on how to Dress, Shop and Live. Ummm...excuse me? Since when did sitcom stars become Fashion Icons? Is this simply a coastal difference in how we define a fashion icon? There definitely are some in here: Diane von Furstenberg and Charlotte Gainsbourg come to mind. And there is the aforementioned Dita von Teese who definitely has her own style. But can people who hire personal stylists –and even quote them in the book– be considered to be great style icons? I mean, who is making the look –the client or Rachel Zoe?

And I'm not saying that all style icons have to be older but in my mind they have to at least generally dress themselves and be known as having a great look/strong interest in fashion. The Olsen twins would be a great example. As is LA artist Rosson Crow. Which brings me to my second issue: Why are all of the people featured celebrities on some level? (if they weren't called icons maybe they wouldn't all have to be celebrities) There are so many girls with amazing style that dress themselves –many even well known bloggers (Tavi? Susie Bubble? hellooo???) Why not show truly audacious personal style instead of canned celebrime style? hmmm....just writing this is getting me slightly more annoyed with the book.

Okay! So not as to go off point here's how I'd sum it up.
The good: some of the people are truly iconic and much of it is beautiful to look at.
The bad: their ideas of "iconic" are frighteningly mainstream.

Cougar Boots Part #1

A few weeks ago, the nice people from Cougar Shoes and Matchstick asked me to be a part of their Influencer program. I was very excited to try out the boots they so nicely sent me earlier this week.

I received two pairs of boots, in this post I am reviewing a pair of rain boots for Fall and early Winter. I absolutely adored them, they came in such a nice shoe box to boot! The next pair of boots I will be reviewing are these amazing comfy and stylish winter boots.

This model is called " Regal" , I love how they are rubber boots but look like kick ass leather biker boots. They are lined with a nice soft insulation and it is like walking on a cloud with every step.

I wish it were raining today so I could have tested the water proofness of these, asides from being nice and stylish these boots will keep your feet dry and warm, I could not ask for a better pair of boots. That always seems to be a problem each year, I never find that pair of cute boots that will keep my feet warm and dry. Thank you Cougar Shoes :) I love love love these amazing rain boots!

I really do love their website to boot, I am so glad that Cougar Shoes asked me to review there new line of Fall/Winter boots :)

I will post the winter boots over the weekend since it is suppose to snow! yay!

La compagnie Cougar et Matchstick m’a demandé il y a quelques semaines de faire partie de leur programme influenceur.

J’avais très hâte d’enfiler les bottes qu’ils m’ont gentiment expédiées cette semaine.

J’ai reçu deux paires de bottes, dans ce billet je parlerai des bottes de pluie pour l’automne et pour le début de l’hiver.

Je craque pour les bottes ! La boîte qui contenait les bottes est adorable. Le prochain billet sera dédié aux superbes bottes d’hiver toujours de la compagnie Cougar.

Je porte le modèle Regal, génial! le concept de la botte de pluie qui à l’allure d’une botte en cuir de style Biker’s chick .

Enfin une botte de pluie qui a du style!

À l’intérieur de la botte, la doublure isolante est ultra douce et très, très confo ! C’est comme marcher sur un nuage !

J’espérais de la pluie aujourd’hui pour vraiment tester l’imperméabilité de la botte.

Style et confort ! Ces bottes garderont vos pieds vraiment au chaud.

J’ai toujours à chaque année le même problème, dénicher des bottes qui garderont mes pieds secs et bien au chaud!

Merci à Cougar! Ils ont résolu mon problème! J’adore, j’adore vos incroyables bottes de pluie!
