Sleeping standing up on the subway platform

blondeBlog
I took this photo without this girl knowing...I don't normally do that but she was on the far subway platform and she really caught my eye – but then happened to have her eyes closed when I took the shot. I know it's not the most unique style, but I like it.

ModCloth Feature!

Hi folks! I just wanted to share with you this neato blog post from the lovely people over at ModCloth. I had no idea they featured one of my outfits and recreated it with things from the website, how neet!

A Hit For Fall
This fall, I have developed a crush for jersey maxi dresses and long skirts. I wore a lot of silk maxi dresses this summer so the transition isn't too big. I love wearing them with leather jackets, thick knits and large scarves. After seeing this I'll be adding a new element to these outfits; a clutch in a bold colour, like this gorgeous red one.

Balmainia

Finally today arrived; the day that Balmain showed its S/S 2011 collection. Since I adore Balmain, my expectations were many and very high. Unfortunately, I must say that I was slightly disappointed when I sat down in front of my computer and eagerly looked through the looks created by Christophe Decarnin. The last seasons, Balmain have produced collections that women have gone crazy over, and the term "Balmania" hasn't occurred without good reason. Still, I had expected more this season as I feel that this is something we have seen before. I believe that such a talented designer as Decarnin, who turned the Balmain fashion house around a few season ago, should take his collections even further and not rely too much on the previous collections he has made. But enough with the moral talk, and on to the good stuff - the jackets were stunning, oui? Definitely a great DIY project.

Dancing with Domo

DSC_0739
Last week at Carnival after the Christopher Sauve show everyone got up dancing. What I love about Domo (other than the adorable factor) is his hair. It's crazy cool - and you can wear just about anything if you've got great hair!

Sweet Jessica

Lately, I have been positively surprised by Jessica Alba's style. Like this outfit, where I have stopped to really look and thought: "That is an everyday outfit that I like a lot!". The simplicity of it  is what appeals to me the most - the pretty, printed dress, the loose cardigan and the gorgeous heels. And not to mention the jewelry - to personalize the outfit just right.

Urban Tigress

FNOforblog
I am digging everything about Pharah: The detailing in her hair, her gorgeous eyes and defined brows, the bright pop of gold that's her jacket and the red boots. This is a girl decked out to party and wearing clothes comfortable enough to go all night yet with enough glam to still get attention. You definitely want to know what after party she's going to...but I promised not to tell!

There's Something About Sienna

As those of you who have followed this blog for a little while know, I adore Sienna Miller. She is one of my absolute favourite celebrities, mostly because of her lovely and bubbly personality and also, of course, because of the way she dresses. When I saw these photos this morning, I instantly thought of icons such as Marianne Faithfull and Edie Sedgwick. It's something to do with her coat and her relaxed attitude. A fake fur coat combined with red lips will be a fall look for me.

Etsy Update : Fall is here!

Hi there! I just wanted to let you all know that I just updated my etsy shop with pretty Fall items, Here are a few Wool items to keep you warm!

Oh That Dress!

I can safely say that I am probably not the only one who loves Marchesa dresses. They always add a touch of magic and a dose of dreaminess into everyday life. If I was a Disney fairy tale princess, I would wear Marchesa dresses all the time. So you might understand that I always love a Marchesa moment. This time it was Nicole Richie who wore one of their dresses to the style of the opening gala and "Unmasking" for the Resnick Pavilion at the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). Love!

Looking good coming and going

jacket2
jacket1
These boys are undeniably attractive so who could blame you if your head swiveled when they walk by? Which is another reason their jackets are so clever – they keep you looking! The jacket on top was designed by the boy wearing it (whose name I sadly don't have - but I shot him backstage at the Malan Breton show). On bottom we have choreographer Jermaine Browne and his very clever jacket of the Queen made of buttons is by a very clever label called Social Suicide.

Back From the Concrete Jungle

Where to begin?! New York was amazing, it was magical, and everything that I had dreamt of. It's strange when you're so in love with a place which you've never been to, and you create all these great visions of how the place is. The possibility of being quite let down is therefore not all that slim. But hey, it's New York - the place where big dreams can come true, and how can that let you down? But I won't ramble on. New York is that kind of place that you need to experience for yourself. Instead I'll give you my 5 best moments while I was there:

5. Looking at all the stylish New Yorkers and filling up on style inspiration. Everywhere you look there are cool people, especially in Soho and Tribeca.

4. Eating breakfast at Café Gitane, and suddenly noticing half way through my fruit salad that Moby was sitting on the other side of the window (I almost choked because of the shock - as I love Moby's music!)

3. Looking through racks and racks of clothes at Beacon's Closet in Brooklyn, and finding a gorgeous dark grey, suede blazer by Calvin Klein which fit perfectly - for only $30!!

2. Walking the Brooklyn Bridge at dusk and arriving on the other side in the dark - the view of Manhattan was spectacular! The lights were so beautiful and romantic.

1. Going to Barney's and purchasing my very first designer bag - the black Mini Coco Duffle bag by Alexander Wang. I have loved it for such a long time, and finally it is mine. Oh, the joy!!

Because of my little voyage to NYC, the reports from New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week have suffered. But my favourite fashion week, Paris, still remains so check back for updates from tomorrow and onwards. And here's a little celebration or an early kick-off to Paris Fashion Week. Bisous!

Kristin Cavallari does short and flirty

nyfw-2girlsinFlwrs
Shorter skirt lengths haven't disappeared yet, and I don't think they will in entirety. These lengths look fresher with fitted waists and fuller skirts like these two. Kristin Cavallari, on the right, is wearing Zac Posen and both of these girls kept the make up light and the jewelry to a minimum, managing to look sweet –not saccharine.

The long way round

black_white
Hemlines dropped precipitously in the Spring collections which I personally find less than thrilling. Since I'm barely 5'4" on a good day I tend to like skirts a bit shorter. However if I looked this chic in a long skirt I might be persuaded...

Fall Comfort

Fall has got to be my favorite time of the year. Did I not mention layers in previous blog posts? I have been so busy at work this week, non stop it has been. I wanted to spend more time on the etsy shop this week but alas had no time. I will be adding a bunch more new vintage goodies in the shop tomorrow and Tuesday morning.

Next weekend is Puce pop a local Montreal market of all things handmade. One of my favorites Yarnovermovement will be there is year, I am very excited to see Tara-Lynn! If you live in the Montreal area you should really check it out, there are so many pretty and unique items for all!

Stéphane took these pictures of me while taking a stroll over to the post office, I love how the streets are starting to get covered with yellow and orange leafs and the color of the sky. I just want to rent movies and stay in and hibernate for the next couple of months.

Today I was wearing this amazing vintage skort I got in Brooklyn at Beacon's Closet, it seems to be handmade with love from the previous owner. I love the print and the colors on it, so unique! The best part is the front and the back have a panel covering the shorts part so that when you walk your not quite sure if it is a skirt. I paired it with Hue lilac blue colored tights, black and white stripped socks, Banana Republic Wallabe style wedge booties found at Buffalo exchange in Brooklyn NY, a vintage esprit leather and purple elastic belt, vintage 70s silver cardigan, white Lululemon tee, Lee denim jacket, vintage Alfred Sung back pack purse and my Yarnovermovement Cambridge chunky cowl in taupe.

The Quirky Fashion Blogger: A new breed at NYFW

quirky2
quirky1

Fashion week tends to have a predictable cast of characters. The briskly walking and tightly wound PR girls, the Dandies in spats or bow ties, avant-gardists in Comme des Garcons or Rick Owens, loyal clients in one designer head to toe, and the outsiders who stand on the wrong side of the velvet ropes patiently waiting for a glimpse of their favorite celebrity. Although they have been around for a few seasons I would like to introduce to you the "Quirky Fashion Blogger". Her role model is Tavi or Susie Bubble, she dresses like a little girl playing with high fashion and would ace the SAT if the history of fashion was a topic. I thought these two were perfect specimens of this new breed. Both of them slightly odd and very sweet, one carried a matching doll and the other had an agent in tow.(which kind of amounts to the same thing)
